I would like to propose an exhibition, Another Confluence, bringing together two interconnected bodies of work: The Changing Field and Carried Over. These projects document the first two chapters of an ongoing exploration of identity, heritage, and belonging through the lens and interaction of two family lineages in Cymru.

The Changing Field reflects on my mother's side of the family, using the setting of our farm on Gower to consider a cultural transformation. The farmhouse and its fields remain constant across generations, yet the livelihoods they support have shifted dramatically. Where the land once represented labour and survival, it is now the setting for leisure, memory and new use.

In contrast, Carried Over draws from my father's side, exploring the tensions between necessity and desire both individually and intergenerationally. This chapter documents the ideas and sensibilities that have been pursued, deferred, and carried forward across generations.

Together, these works form a dialogue between two perspectives: one rooted in the romanticisation of past labour, the other in the pull toward creative and imagined futures. Rather than resolving this tension, the exhibition lets both positions exist in the same room, reflecting on how identity is shaped through inheritance, change, and contradiction. While rooted in an individual's story, the work speaks to broader questions about how landscapes hold memory and how identity evolves within them. By placing generational perspectives side by side, the project invites reflection on what changes, what endures, and our place within it.
